How we use the funds:

All donations and grants are used to support our scientific research, conservation, and outreach activities. Any help and support will be greatly appreciated, and all contributions will be properly recognised and acknowledged. Currently, we are seeking funds to support two scientific initiatives:

● US$4,000 to support a field campaign deploying GPS radiocollars on tarukas and feral donkeys in rural areas of the Highland Atacama Desert. We currently have seven GPS collars ready to be deployed on wild animals to study their movements and generate information that will help environmental authorities improve management strategies. However, we do not yet have sufficient funding to cover the operational costs of this campaign. We still require US$4,000 to cover the rental of a 4WD vehicle and fuel expenses, as well as field consumables for the capture campaign (darts and immobilisation drugs). Additionally, we need support to pay for the satellite subscription required to receive GPS data from the collars. This activity will be carried out during 2026.

● US$4,000 to support a 12-day field campaign as part of our long-term monitoring programme of wild large herbivores in the Highland Atacama Desert. During these campaigns, we collect ecological data and biological samples to assess population sizes of wild herbivores, evaluate interactions with livestock, and collect faecal samples to study gastrointestinal parasites that may be transmitted between wild and domestic herbivores. These field campaigns are scheduled for November 2026 and March 2027.
